The hot sunny days and extreme temperature fluctuations of winter can wear on your fiberglass or wood door finish. If not maintained properly the finish will fade. 

Fading finish on a fiberglass door will not cause harm to the door and usually can be restored rather quickly by re-staining and clear coating.

It is not the same case for real wood doors and fading color on a wood door should be addressed immediately before the wood is damaged.

Door refinishing and stain color matching requires someone with years of experience. If not done properly the finish will probably not last long and may flake or peel.
